the temple- one of the 4 walkways: this is my friend gary. He spent 9 days helping build the temple before the event opened. he was exhausted, blistered and bruised. he also had to leave mid-week to go put his dog down unexpectedly. the temple is tradition, every year volunteers make the huge structure, to be used for memorials. people write on the walls about anything they want to say, at the end of the week, it burns. it is a cleansing ritual of sorts.
temple work crewin the scissor lift of the bell tower, helping with the chandelier
there were piano wires spanning from one of the turrets to the bell tower. these musicians had resin on their gloves and were playing the wires by running their hands along them
the inside of one of the towers, which was packed for a meditation or some such
not all things memorialized are sombre...
gary's bike basket, yes, pee.
i helped gary with his art car, a motorized white water raft called 'rigged to flip'. it was a bit un-finished, the chassis had to be towed to camp. it wasn't so bad once you got used to the reverse steering, but having no breaks caused issues
this is 'rigged to flip'. aside from no breaks, we also had to push-start it. plenty of fun in 100 degrees.

microbrew happy hour, this camp had 3 microbrews and 1 rootbeer on tap
each morning a neighbor camp played really great music, so i trekked around to find them to pay my compliments. turns out it was 'lil' crack whore' camp. they were very nice.
random meeting of bug art cars. fight fight fight!
camp-mate jason and i at the billion bunny march, accompanied as usual, by the flaming tuba band and animal patrol
my favorite art car, el pulpo mecanico
he's even cuter at night
interactive strobe art- people pull ropes on each side to make the disc spin, a strobe light flashes to expose what looks like a skeleton rowing a boat. it was extremely cool, but the ropes were gnarly on the hands
the pier, complete with bait shop and tackle. you could fish for hippies and the like. my friends chris and brann ran around in shark suits for awhile, which was a lot of fun
this structure was made by mez, a seattlite i worked with at microsoft years ago. the sign says 'i was not born a sinner, i do not need to be saved, and neither do you'

the sign says 'have you shwagged a hottie today?' the burningman DMV wants to know... the dmv 'hotties' are the ladies who license playa vehicles, like our dear floe, shown here in all her igloo glory. the hotties also like PBR.

these blocks were different sizes and hundreds of yards apart, you had to sit down in a specific chair to be able to read the message
a trojan horse, pulled by 500 volunteers to the middle of the playa
and then, of course, burned
