burningman, my 4th year

this year i fixed up my own trailer and headed into the desert. i camped with dear friends and enjoyed every dusty hot minute. it may be a strange event to some, but for those of us who've had the experience, it is the one time and place where you can truly be whatever you want to be and do whatever you want to do, a week without money, advertising, computers, phones, jobs, judgement, or traffic. it takes a bit to get used to the idea, but trust me, it's addictive. you have people on their best behavior, in an atmosphere of independence, extreme generosity, creativity, and of course, fire!

art cars are the only vehicles allowed to move, they also must transport people as part of their function. that way, anyone needing to get somewhere can hop on a passing car, no questions asked.

chris spins tunes atop a 2-story art car, we rode this car for hours during a storm

the car stopped so we could play on the art

'bacon camp' was our neighbor. this day he cooked bacon with white chocoate chips, mmmm. he gave away nearly 50 pounds over the week

this is our friend's camp, 'opulent temple'. it is the largest dance club with over 3,000 people dancing on any given night. there is no capacity limit as it's outdoors. the d.j.'s push a button to activate the flame throwers in conjunction with the music, big fun. this pic is from their official photographer, mark rahmani.
